Tariff Challenges Impact Delivery
Table of Contents
Changes in global trade policies have impacted our business. However, we are navigating our best to support you through this transition. At this moment, DHL and Australian Post are NOT shipping to the USA. Postal services are reorganizing and implementing the new shipping options. These changes are largely due to the new frameworks.
Additionally, understanding the policies is essential as they influence our shipping timelines and costs.
In recent years, global trade has undergone significant shifts, with changes playing a central role in shaping international relations. For instance, the trade tensions between the U.S. and China have led to increased costs on a wide range of products, affecting businesses and consumers alike. These changes push companies to adapt their strategies, often leading to increased costs that are passed on to consumers.
The evolving landscape requires businesses to stay agile and ready to adapt to new regulations that may arise.
We have NOT been given a time frame, and do NOT know when we can expect delivery. Thank you for your patience as we wait for the “powers that be” to give us the nod for international shipments from Australia to the USA.
Understanding the Impact of Tariff Changes
The changes have made it more expensive for the U.S. to purchase goods from Australia – which for around 20 years has been duty free or has had negligible duties imposed due to the existence of the Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement. The Australian Government is working closely with Australia Post, Australian Border Force and the US Customs and Border Protection to assess the impacts on Australians and Australian businesses.
As we assess the impacts of these changes, we are developing strategies to mitigate the effects on our operations.
Furthermore, the shift in tariffs is not just a local issue but a global phenomenon. Countries like Canada and Mexico have also experienced changes, impacting their trade relations with the U.S. and each other. For example, dairy products and agricultural goods have seen substantial tariff increases, leading to higher prices in grocery stores across North America. These tariff changes are forcing businesses to reevaluate their supply chains and consider alternative sourcing options.
Understanding the nuances of the adjustments can empower businesses to make better sourcing decisions.
Regulations are causing concern among businesses and consumers.
1. Increased Costs: Tariffs are essentially taxes on imported goods. This means that our Q2 products have been subject to these tariffs. We now have our first price increase since 2020 due to the implementation of the latest tariff policies.
2. Disrupted Supply Chains: Since our products are manufactured in Australia, we are currently experiencing a delay in shipping as well as a price increase due to the new tariffs and the ongoing tariff discussions.
3. Impact on Consumer Prices: As tariffs increase, the prices that consumers pay for goods also rise. This impact is particularly visible in sectors like electronics and clothing, where many items are manufactured overseas. The increased costs due to tariffs can lead to consumers seeking alternatives or cutting back on spending, further complicating the economic landscape.
We recommend staying informed about potential future changes that may affect consumer pricing.
Tariff Suspended US Shipments
Australia Post announced a temporary suspension on Tuesday, 26 August 2025. This was caused by changes to customs and import rules made by the US Government. The decision is in response to the US announcement it will remove the duty free exemption for low value goods. It is in line with action taken by numerous postal operators internationally.
This suspension has left many businesses in limbo, as they rely on timely deliveries for their operations. Small businesses, in particular, are feeling the pinch as they struggle to manage inventory and meet customer demands without the usual shipping routes. The suspension has also led to increased shipping costs for those who are able to find alternative methods, further squeezing profits.
Resumed postal services to the US in October 2025
However, we are hopeful for a resolution as discussions continue. We anticipate product availability to improve significantly by the end of November. We are actively working with our logistics partners to expedite the process and appreciate your understanding during this challenging time.
